Ashley Martinez has been part of The Children’s School since January 2009. She began as an assistant and has worked with both the Primary and Lower Elementary levels. When the toddler program was in development for the 2011-2012 school year, she expressed an interest in working with this age group. In just a short time she quickly realized that working this age was her passion. In May 2012, Ms. Martinez received her North American Montessori International Teaching Diploma for Infant, Toddler and Twos. Ms. Martinez is the proud mother of Juan, who is 1 ½ years old.
Irma Morales has been part of The Children’s School since January 2004. Ms. Morales has over 20 years of child care experience. In 2011, she completed her North American Montessori International Teaching Diploma for Infant, Toddler and Twos. As an educator, she values the uniqueness found in each child. Her goal is to create a stimulating and loving environment for every child in her classroom. Ms. Morales is the proud mother of 2 daughters, Ashley 22 and Alyssa 18.
Ms. Hilary Ackerman
Ms. Hilary Ackerman has been part of The Children’s School since January 1992. She received her AMS certification for 3-6 year olds in 1995 at the Houston Montessori Center and has been teaching Primary at The Children’s School for 20 years. She has also assisted American Montessori Society interns as a field consultant working with upcoming teachers in training. The past three summers, Ms. Ackerman has traveled to China to teach the Montessori Method to teachers in Xining, Tibet and Beijing. She believes in honoring the whole child and fosters each child’s individuality by creating a loving and nurturing environment within her classroom.
Ms. Brenda Bradham
Ms. Brenda Bradham has been part of The Children’s School since October 2000. During her 12 years at the school, Ms. Bradham has developed a true passion for the Montessori philosophy and enjoys sharing that passion with the children. In 2009, she received her North American Montessori International Teaching Diploma for children ages 2 ½ – 6. She is the proud mother to her daughter Irie, who is 1 year old.
Ms. Angelica Evans
Ms. Angelica Evans has been part of The Children’s School since July 2006. Ms. Evans has 17 years of child care experience with 10 years as a Montessori Lead. She received her American Montessori Society Early Childhood Montessori Certification for children 3-6 years from the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in Boulder, Colorado, in 2005. She also holds an Associate Arts Degree from Front Range in Boulder, Colorado. Ms. Evans is passionate in her support of children and their potential growth and happiness.
Ms. Kari Hutchens
Ms. Kari Hutchens has been part of The Children’s School since July 2009. Ms. Hutchens obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Degree from Lamar University in 2008. In 2011, she received her North American Montessori International Teaching Diploma for children age 2 ½ – 6. Her diploma notes outstanding achievement in all areas of Montessori practices. Ms. Hutchens loves being with children and being part of their learning and growing experiences. She loves spending time with her husband and two dogs and enjoys hiking and camping in her time away from school.
Ms. Emma Hilland
Ms Emma Hilland taught at The Children’s School from 1996-2000, working both with Pre Primary and Primary children. She left to open her own school, a French immersion Montessori school,that she successfully ran for 7 years before selling in 2007. She quickly realized that she missed teaching and decided to return to where it all began. She holds an International Montessori Teaching Certificate from the North American Montessori Center for children ages 6-9. Ms. Hilland is the proud mother of Benjamin, 19, and Laura, 8, both TCS graduates, with whom she shares a love for competitive figure skating.
Ms. Emma Maurer
Ms. Emma Maurer received her American Montessori Society Teaching Certification in August 1986 at the 3-6 years level. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communication and Disorders from The University of Texas. Ms. Maurer has total of 19 years of teaching experience. Her first teaching experience was at Kenmont Montessori in Brownsville, TX. She worked at The Children’s School from 1993-1997 teaching at the Primary and Lower Elementary levels. Ms. Maurer moved to Houston in 1997, while there she taught at St. Catherine’s Montessori at the Primary level for 5 years before beginning her family. She and her family returned to Austin in 2009 at which time she returned to The Children’s School. Ms. Maurer is the proud mother of daughters, Emma, age 9, and Ana-Christina, age 7, both TCS graduates.
